Washington Trip - Tuesday Sept 12, 2006

Tuesday was forecast to have the best weather of the week so we made plans to ride our bikes on the Mount Vernon Bike Trail. We left the apartment around 9 and biked over to the mall then over the 14^th St. bridge near the Jefferson Memorial. The trail basically follows the Potomac River south around Regan Airport, Alexandria, then Mt Vernon. I missed a lot of great pictures as the camera battery gave up around the airport. The airport was a treat with great views of the planes landing and taking off. The weather improved through the day and was sunny, but not too warm. The Washington farm was very interesting, we had lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn then toured Mount Vernon . We stopped for a couple of beers at the Union St. Public House in Alexandria. Riding bikes through the Washington rush hour traffic was a hoot!. We had dinner with Laura and Merritt at The District Chophouse
